HUMZA Yousaf is set to stage an emergency meeting of the Scottish Cabinet on Thursday morning, according to a report.

It comes amid ongoing debate over the future of the Bute House Agreement – which the Scottish Greens have already called a vote on.

However, the reason for the Cabinet meeting has not been made public.

The Daily Record has now reported that an emergency meeting is on the agenda for April 25 at 8.30am.

The National has approached the Scottish Government for comment.

BBC reporter James Cook has posted on Twitter/X that Lorna Slater and Patrick Harvie have left Bute House but that they made no comment when asked if the Bute House Agreement was over.

The National:

Members of the Cabinet would normally meet on a Tuesday although reports suggest they have been called to Bute House on Thursday morning.

The Greens are to hold an internal party vote next month on the Bute House Agreement with the SNP, that was first signed in 2021.

However, some figures within the SNP have also been critical of the deal and we told on Wednesday how SNP MSP Christine Grahame said the deal had "run its course".

In Westminster, SNP backbencher Joanna Cherry has called for the SNP rank and file to also be given a vote on the agreement.

Patrick Harvie meanwhile has already said he will quit as Scottish Greens co-leader should his party vote to end the agreement.
