A 70-year-old man has died after taking unwell at a Scottish swimming pool.

Emergency services raced to Carnegie Leisure Centre in Dunfermline at around 6.30am and the man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Tuesday, 3 September, 2024, we were made aware of a person having taken unwell in Pilmuir Street area of Dunfermline.

“Emergency services attended and a 70-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“The death is being treated as unexplained however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
