I AM 72 years of age and for all of my adult life I have had a keen interest in politics.

During that time there has been what feels like a never-ending succession of crimes, sexual improprieties and downright corrupt behaviour carried out by members of the big three Westminster parties.

Never have we witnessed such a public cross-examination of any Westminster politician than we are seeing with the attack on Nicola Sturgeon. All of the Unionist parties are relishing the opportunity to try to land a blow on our First Minister.

We have a Prime Minister who daily lies to the people of the UK. Even the media do not have a clear idea of how many illegitimate children he has. We know that the police were called to an alleged domestic incident involving him and his (now) fiancee.

He knowingly was willing to break the law of the land and also prorogued parliament both for his party’s advantage.

I would absolutely love to see Boris Johnson being subjected to the same degree of public cross-examination that Nicola Sturgeon is being subjected to for each of his indiscretions.

It appears to me that Nicola Sturgeon is being attacked because she and the SNP did not brush the allegations against Alex Salmond under the carpet, as is the tradition in Westminster.

I am convinced that we are witnessing a concerted attempt by the Unionists to damage the independence cause. For months now we have seen the UK mainstream media taking every opportunity to support the Union.

Overnight we have seen Unionist politicians on TV broadcasting from home draped in the Union flag. That didn’t happen by chance and I do not believe that they all had the flags at home prior to a directive being sent to them.

We saw many examples of lies, deceit and dirty tricks from Unionist politicians prior to the last independence referendum. I predict that we will see more and even dirtier tactics from the Unionists in the run-up to the May election and beyond. The polls have got them rattled.

I for one had great respect for Nicola Sturgeon before all this nonsense and this respect has now been doubled. I am not a member of the SNP but I am a fervent supporter of Independence.

HAVING watched and listened to Nicola Sturgeon’s eight-hour appearance at the Alex Salmond harassment allegations inquiry, you have to ask yourself if only UK ministers received the same level of scrutiny, we might have some faith in the Union.

Boris and his Cabinet of rogues can do no wrong – proroguing Parliament; signing dodgy deals with their pals for millions. I know the Scottish Government didn’t handle this well and the cost to the taxpayer is unacceptable, but how much in comparison has Boris taken from our taxes with his bridges that never happened, and I seem to remember anti-riot vehicles being purchased from France that were never used and sold off for a fraction of their cost.

The list of goes on and on. Where is the scrutiny by Starmer, the Unionist parties and the media? The Scottish public must see through this for what it is. Another example of how Scotland and its elected government are seen in the eyes of our so-called partners in the UK. They will continue to undermine everything that our government does and attempt to show Scotland in a bad light. We need to be very aware of this come the elections in May.

THANK gawd that the predictable behaviour and results of the Star Chamber – sorry, “inquiry” – is mainly over. The three same English Stooge parties will never learn. Repeating an accusation, sorry question, over and over again is not only boring, boring, boring, but quite unseemly, to say the least, and unflattering to the numpties who barely conceal their glee, thinking they have a wounded and helpless prisoner to interrogate. “I’ll ask zee questions.”

Instead of subtle detective work they go in with the jackboot, crashing doors and use bullying tactics to wreak a “confession” from their victims. Nicola and Alex are not victims, as proved day in and day oot at FMQ when the FM is treated to their tiresome wet-sponged and silly questions with a baseball bat. It seemed that during the breaks of the eight-hour marathon they had their orders repeated to step up their silliness and appear even more obnoxious to the viewers. Simon Cowell could do a better job than these Britain’s got nae talent, soor-faced judges.

WHO is this person DRoss? He is not a Member of the Scottish Parliament and with any justice that will remain to be so. As an SFA referee he has no entitlement to demand procedures like votes of confidence in any Scottish minister. If he wishes to move such motions he would be well advised to restrict them to the London parliament where he belongs, and move a vote of no confidence whatsoever in the Scottish Governor-General Alastair Jack in his representation of the interests of our puir wee nation.

The overwhelming evidence from the Salmond inquiry and the behaviour of Her Majesty’s Government in Westminster is that in Scotland we have a rigorous system of ministerial responsibility and in Westminster spivs can hold office and hand out contracts to pals and the public broadcasters will never ask a question about it.

If ever anyone demonstrated the capacity of Scotland to run her own affairs decently it was Ms Sturgeon on Wednesday, when she showed us all how a national leader should behave, in direct contrast to the dross that is currently running the UK.
