MARTIN Canning has insisted that talk of a supporters’ boycott has not affected his Hamilton Academical players.

Hamilton fans had threatened not to attend the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock over concerns about the team’s recent performances.

However, the club held a positive meeting with a group of supporters prior to kick-off in an effort to placate them.

The Lanarkshire side have now picked up four points from their last two games, with Eamonn Brophy levelling on Saturday after Sean Longstaff had put Kilmarnock ahead.

Canning said: “I don’t think the players will play any differently [as a result of supporter unrest]. They are focused on doing their job.”

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark hailed his senior players on Saturday as seven teenagers played for his side.

Clark said: “[Gary] Dicker, [Kris] Boyd and [Steven] Smith are important to us. They give us that know-how.”
