Tory MP Ross Thomson has been relentlessly mocked on Twitter after claiming post-Brexit food and medicine shortages is seemingly less of a concern than being able to buy super powerful vacuum cleaners.
READ: Why worry about Brexit food shortages when you can buy a new vacuum?
In a Tweet thread, the Aberdeen South MP claimed that having any form of soft Brexit (i.e. avoiding a no-deal Brexit) would mean regulatory alignment with Brussels and “ signing up bad regulations such as the EU ban on hoovers with motors more powerful than 900w”.
Here are our favourite reactions so far.
*sigh*

(1) Vacuum cleaner performance isn't dependent upon power rating.
(2) The reduction in energy consumption across the EU by 2020 will be equivalent to EIGHT medium-sized power stations.
(3) Over 6 million tonnes of CO2 will not be emitted.
(4) Consumers will save money. https://t.co/BYvlvpZ7Yd
Tory MP opposes measures which improve energy and cost efficiency but might impinge on the fun of some theoretical vacuum-cleaner-and-brexit-interested third party that I can't possibly think of https://t.co/2sQGTcKeiF

JUST IMAGINE HOW BRIGHT IT WOULD'VE BEEN WITH ELECTRICITY THEN STOP TALKING DOWN OUR BREXIT https://t.co/VNs0QrWQZc
Why would you need a vacuum cleaner more powerful that 900kw? How filthy is your house? https://t.co/suV9BPPdqR

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
