HUMAN folly has no bounds (Radioactive gas doubles at Scots nuclear base, reports Hamish Morrison in Tuesday’s National). We play this nuclear game at our peril, whether by using it for deadly weapons or supposedly “green” energy. Radioactivity has no definable safety levels and it is known it can be carcinogenic.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency begs to differ. It is allowing increased levels of air pollution and the discharge of tritium-contaminated waste at our “Royal” Naval Armaments Coulport Depot.

Where is any consideration for the general public? We are in the hands of an American-run Westminster. Scotland’s only means of challenging this utter disregard for human health and the environment, both now and for generations to come, is by using our common sense and gaining a nuclear-free independent nation, ASAP.
