I CAN’T be the only reader who sees the irony of Edinburgh University being so limiting to native students that they are made to feel like an inferior minority (26%) in their own country (University puts out guidance after claims of anti-Scottish discrimination, Nov 11)!

The article also indicates that the north/south divide is promulgated by these institutions and their students, some of whom bring with them their elitist attitudes gained via their superior wealth, held close to ensure that situation is always so and they don’t have to share their wealth with any other parts of the country, thus retaining their superiority.

They carry this with them when they leave university and their opinions are reflected not only in academia but in daily life, usually as leaders of government, law and industry, Scottish citizens being the ongoing recipients of their early experience validated by their student fraternity.
