GLASGOW Cathedral has been closed as film crews were spotted setting up scaffolding.

On Friday, the cathedral shut its doors to the public, reportedly for Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro’s new Frankenstein movie.

The Netflix adaptation is set to star Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth.

Del Toro was recently seen shooting the new film in the north east, where he stayed in the “most haunted room” of his Aberdeen hotel.

He shared his experience on social media, as well as his love for Scotland.

Historic Environment Scotland confirmed the cathedral will be shut from August 23 to 27.
