I AM reading yet another heartbreaking story in The National about the horrors inflicted on families by the UK immigration system (Detained wife told she will remain in Dungavel, June 13).

I applaud the paper for pushing the Home Office to provide details of the number of asylum seekers who have been removed due to human error.

In 2013, when my family were directly affected by UK immigration policy, I was so shocked by the treatment we received that I contacted a couple of papers as well as TV media to raise awareness of what was happening.

None of them responded to my emails. As a family we felt abandoned, alone and not believed.

Thank you to The National for continuously highlighting the plight of individuals suffering as a result of UK immigration policy.
