THE BBC has been branded an "embarrassment" after it referred to the SNP as the "Scottish Nationalist Party" again, despite the party delivering a letter to the broadcaster urging it to explain its "basic errors" just days ago.
Following The National's #indyref2020 Rally for Independence this weekend the broadcaster used the wrong name for the SNP and showed "jarring and minimising" scenes from George Square, according to the letter.
Today on the BBC News site's live blog of election coverage, the introduction to a piece on education policy read: "The Scottish Nationalist Party has attacked the Conservative Party after a claim by the i newspaper it will drop its pledge to cut tuition fees."
SNP stands for Scottish National Party. The post, made this morning, was updated at around 4pm this afternoon with the correct name.
An SNP source said: "What an embarrassment, we shouldn't have to watch out for these kind of basic errors, but we do.
"We are in an election period - the BBC needs to get a grip."

Another issue highlighted in this week's letter included the main BBC One news programme's decision to broadcast the event on Monday with no mention that the rally took place two days prior.
The letter, delivered to senior BBC management earlier this week, concluded: “As we enter into a regulated election period I seek to understand these editorial judgements and basic errors.
“All assurances you can give me that the BBC will accurately and fairly build in the complexities of a devolved UK would be welcome.
“And if you can guarantee me that the BBC will at least get the SNP’s name correct from now on, all the better.”
And SNP depute leader Keith Brown called on the broadcaster to up its game, saying viewers expect "so much better".
“If the BBC are serious about trying to regain trust from audiences north of the Border then they need to get their act together immediately.”
The BBC has been approached for comment.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
