A LABOUR MP and former cabinet member is "100% certain" Scotland will become independent.
Ben Bradshaw told the German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel it was “unsustainable” for Scotland to be denied self-determination by Westminster.
It comes as Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard is expected to raise the possibility of reversing their position on indyref2 at the party’s executive committee tomorrow.
The National understands that Leonard is likely to have majority backing among SEC members, though the body counts Jackie Baillie and Ian Murray who are opponents of any change in policy.

Bradshaw, who served as culture secretary from 2009 to 2010, was asked if Scotland could leave the UK if it does not remain closely aligned with the EU.
He told Der Tagesspiegel: “It will happen either way. I have no doubt that Scotland will become independent.
“It is completely unsustainable that the government in London denies Scots the right to self-determination.
“The Scots expressed in the 2016 EU referendum and the two subsequent General Elections that they do not want to leave the EU.
“It is important to understand that the UK is based on the consent of all parts of the country.
“The political class in England – and this includes my own party – must very quickly recognise the Scots' right to self-determination.”

The Exeter MP, who was previously deputy leader of the House of Commons, revealed his own family have changed their views on independence.
“I am married to a Scotsman,” he said. “All members of our family in Scotland voted against independence in the 2014 referendum.
“But at the last General Election in December, all of them voted for the Scottish National Party for the first time in their lives.
“And they would now vote for Scotland's independence differently than in 2014. Scotland will become independent. For me that is 100% certain.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
