A NEW poll of voting-age Scots has shown that voting intention in a second referendum is evenly split and that the SNP has a healthy lead for the 2020 Holyrood election.
The poll by Survation asked: "If there was a referendum tomorrow with the question ‘Should Scotland be an independent country?’, how would you vote?"
The outcome of the poll was 50% for Yes and 50% for No.
Respondents with a likelihood to vote were targeted in the poll and those who were undecided or refused to vote were removed from the figure.
The results for the Holyrood Voting Intention part of the study showed that the SNP dominated with 52% of the constituency vote, Conservatives were supported by 23%, Labour had 17%, LibDems 7%, and "Other" took 1%.
The regional figures were less stark, with 38% for SNP, 21% Conservative, 19% Labour, 9% Scottish Greens, 9% LibDems, and 3% for "Another Party".
Survation conducted an online poll of 1,019 people aged 16+ living in Scotland on behalf of Progress Scotland. Fieldwork was between January 20 and 22.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
