THEY battled storms, seasickness and sleep deprivation to row across the Atlantic in record time. Now Scottish rowers, the Broar brothers, are swapping their oars for walking boots as they prepare to take part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk.
Jamie and Ewan MacLean will be joining thousands of other kilted Scots on April 26, and raising vital funds for national charity, Children 1st, and will be joined by brother Lachlan to take on the Edinburgh walk in September.
The brothers, from Edinburgh, recently became the fastest trio to row the Atlantic, taking just 35 days to cross the ocean from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, to Antigua.
Jamie said: “After 35 days on a boat, the Kiltwalk is the perfect opportunity to give our legs a good ol’ stretch!
“We’re going for another record on April 26 – not to be the fastest to finish but instead to get the most people supporting one charity at any Kiltwalk ever. We want to rally as many Scots as possible to walk the 2020 Kiltwalk in Glasgow to raise funds for Children 1st.
“After rowing 3000 miles for Children 1st, join us in walking 6, 15 or 23 miles for an incredible charity which is working tirelessly to create a happy, healthy, safe and secure future for every child and young person in Scotland.”
This year, Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation, will top up all donations by 50%, meaning that for every £1 raised, £1.50 will be donated to charity.
