MICHAEL Gove has come under fire for leaving his house to go jogging when his daughter had coronavirus symptoms.

The minister's 17-year-old daughter had shown symptoms of the virus, and under government guidelines, this means members of household need to stay inside for a period of 14 days.

But Gove was spotted jogging near his London home, sparking fears he was breaking lockdown rules before his daughter tested negative for Covid-19.

He said he received special permission from Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty for his daughter to be tested so he could return quickly to full Government duties.

She had first shown ‘mild’ symptoms on April 5 and he received permission 24 hours later, the MailOnline revealed.

Gove reportedly told Whitty that testing his daughter would allow him to quickly get back to government duties, despite working from home in recent weeks.
