Athletics: The Inspiration Games (BBC 1, 1.15pm)
HIGHLIGHTS of the Inspiration Games, as 30 track and field superstars compete simultaneously across eight disciplines in different venues across the globe.
The innovative three-team event sees a European side take on the USA and the Rest of The World. One of the most anticipated races is the women’s 150m, as the USA’s 200m Olympic and world champion Allyson Felix is scheduled to take on Bahamian 400m Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Switzerland’s World Championship 200m bronze medallist Mujinga Kambundji.
Scotland’s Laura Muir is also expected to take part in a three-way distance race between world champion Sifan Hassan and Jenny Simpson.
Wimbledon: The Greatest Championships (BBC1, 2.15pm)
WHAT was the best ladies’ final of the Open era? Perhaps Margaret Court’s epic win over Billie Jean King in 1970, the 1995 clash between Steffi Graf and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, or Venus Williams’s hard-fought 4-6, 7-6, 9-7 victory over Lindsay Davenport in 2005?
Here, Sue Barker is joined by a panel of experts as they select the best 10 ladies’ finals of the Open era at Wimbledon, including the matches above, as well as others in which Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert and Virginia Wade featured.
Casualty (BBC1, 8.25pm)
JADE prepares to meet her birth mother for the first time. She’s incredibly nervous, and convinced she was given away because of her deafness, but Marty tries his best to reassure her.
She faces her fears and heads to a cafe to meet her mum, finally uncovering the truth behind her past in the process.
Meanwhile, Charlie throws himself back into work, but it’s clear there is something else on his mind. Faith attempts a conversation with Dylan but he pushes her away, claiming he needs some distance.
Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer (BBC1, 9.15pm)
THE former England, Liverpool and Tottenham footballer hosts a new variety entertainment show, featuring live music, comedy skits and a host of celebrity guests via video link.
He will also be joined in each episode by TV and BBC Radio 1 presenter Maya Jama, as well as Taskmaster’s Alex Horne and his comedy band the Horne Section.
This time, Tinie Tempah pops by for a chat and a game of Musical VAR, Mo Farah takes on Jessica Ennis-Hill in The Sporting Fix, Peter takes Jamie Redknapp on an extreme retirement challenge and Ellie Goulding Saves Our Summer with an exclusive performance in The Garden Sessions.
