NICOLA Sturgeon has warned Scots against coronavirus complacency as more lockdown easing comes into force.

Shopping centres have reopened today and outdoor contact sports for children have resumed, as has some routine dental treatment and visiting for non-Covid hospital patients.

In-patients can now see a designated visitor before their release from hospital.

At her daily briefing, the First Minister said the changes make it "ever more important that we take the basic steps to avoid the virus spreading again".

After five days without a Covid-19 death in Scotland, and as new confirmed cases remain low, she said noone should doubt the need for continued vigilance and compliance with public safety rules.

That's after more 230,000 new cases were confirmed worldwide on Sunday.

Sturgeon said: "This virus will spread again if we give it a chance — half a chance, a quarter of a chance.

"This is not a virus in decline globally, this is a virus that is still accelerating."

Asking Scots to wear face masks while inside shopping centres and other indoor spaces, the SNP leader also urged people to use "common sense" when making leisure trips.

One road in the Trossachs was closed over the weekend when parked cars left by visitors it impassable.

Sturgeon said: "We're asking you to please use your common sense — if car parks are full, move on, if places look busy then also move on.

"Our very strong advice, as you know, is to avoid crowded places, whether they're outdoors or indoors."

The First Minister also raised concerns about "large numbers of people wild camping".

The country's campsites are allowed to fully reopen from Wednesday.

Sturgeon warned: "If you do intend to use them over the next few weeks, our advice is to book ahead, not simply turn up."
