Rescue teams and a helicopter unit were sent to assist
AN angler has died in Sutherland after falling down a gorge, authorities have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the Oykel Bailey Bridge at around 10.50pm yesterday.
The coastguard were called to a report that a fisherman had fallen into a gully and sent coastguard rescue teams and a helicopter to assist.
The 68-year-old man, who was on a fishing trip, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
