RESTRICTIONS on visiting other households are to be put in place again in Glasgow after a cluster of coronavirus cases.

Nicola Sturgeon announced the measure after 66 new positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, compared to 12 a week ago.

The restrictions on visiting other households will apply to people living in Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire.

They will be in place for a two week period but reviewed after one week.

The First Minister has announced that from midnight tonight you should not host people from other households or visit other households, except in emergencies.

Sturgeon said: "If they rise further, people will fall ill.

"If we don't stem this tide, we could see virus run out of control again."

The First Minister said earlier today that outbreaks of coronavirus in Glasgow are "a cause for concern".

She said a meeting of the Scottish Government Resilience Committee attended tonight would "consider what action may be necessary to prevent further spread."

Sturgeon tweeted: “I know how difficult this will be – I am a Glasgow resident so these rules apply to me too – but they are essential to, I hope, nip this in bud and avoid tougher restrictions.

“Please – in every part of Scotland – stick to the #FACTS rules. That is vital to keep this virus under control.”
