THE majority of Scots now back Scottish independence, another poll has shown.
The Survation poll of 1018 people, carried out between September 2-7, is the seventh in a row to put Yes in the lead.
It found that 53% of respondents would vote for independence at a new referendum, while 47% would back the No side.
The poll also revealed some Holyrood voting intentions ahead of next year’s Scottish Parliament election.

The poll put list vote support for the SNP on 42%, up four percentage points on Survation’s previous survey carried out in January. Also in the list vote it showed a decrease of three percentage points for the Tories, and a decrease of one percentage point for Labour.
In the constituency vote the poll found support for the SNP was at 53%, up two percentage points on its January survey.
Support for the Tories was down by three percentage points, sitting at 20%, while backing for Labour was up one percentage point at 18%.
Several polls have now shown that the SNP are on track to gain a majority next May. They also consistently show majority support for independence, with the figure sitting between 53% and 55% among various polling companies.
SNP depute leader Keith Brown said this "is yet another significant poll for the SNP and the independence movement".
He argued the numbers show "people want decisions about Scotland to be made by the people who live here, and not Boris Johnson".
The MSP went on: “The rising and unsustainable cost to Scotland’s future of a Tory government people here didn’t vote for has never been clearer.
“Faced with the increasing threat of a hard or No-Deal Brexit, and an unprecedented power grab on the hard-won powers of the Scottish Parliament, it’s no wonder people in Scotland are demanding the right to choose a better future.
“With Westminster in chaos, and Boris Johnson in Downing Street, an independent, progressive Scotland in Europe is becoming the settled will of the people of Scotland.
“Boris Johnson’s undemocratic attempt to deny the people of Scotland the right to choose their own future is now utterly unsustainable."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
