A FLEDGLING company managed by Michelle Mone’s former business associate was awarded a bumper NHS contract to supply PPE to the NHS, it has been revealed.

Anthony Page, who served as the secretary of the business which manages Mone’s “brand”, set up PPE Medpro on the same day he quit his role with the Tory peer’s company.

Within 45 days, according to the Mirror, PPE Medpro was handed a £122 million contract by the UK Department of Health to supply 25m gowns to health staff. The contract was not advertised to other bidders.

As well as having formerly worked for Baroness Mone’s company, Page is also a director of finance company Knox Group, founded by the peer’s fiancé, Doug Barrowman.

A spokeswoman for Baroness Mone commented: “Baroness Mone has no comment as she has no role or involvement in PPE Medpro.”

Barrowman’s spokesman said he “cannot comment on the individual client entities”.

There is no suggestion of wrongdoing and the Department of Health said: “Due diligence is carried out for all government contracts.”
