LAURA Kuenssberg has come under fire for saying "scuffles" at the Capitol, before four were declared dead.
The BBC's political editor faced backlash after the tweet last night, with many saying she downplayed the events.
Looks like scuffles inside the Capitol https://t.co/i18GmaG34s

Half an hour after the mob had entered the Capitol, with President Trump's public support to overturn the US election results, with representatives, staff, & reporters told to "duck & cover" - right-wing journo for the @BBC calls this "scuffles". #WashingtonDC https://t.co/1TkyTyu3V6

Scuffles?? If @bbclaurak had been reporting at the time I'm sure she would have said the Blitz was merely an exercise in slum clearance. https://t.co/mHcyXqNYCi

Compare Kuenssberg's words with the reality of 4 dead, many injured, proceedings delayed, and Trump's madness still stirring violence. That is the BBC. An alternate story they sell. https://t.co/STnMlUtU1k

Immediately ahead of the violence yesterday Trump told thousands of his supporters gathered in Washington DC that "we will never concede" the presidential election.
But this morning the president’s deputy chief of staff for communications tweeted a message from Trump which said he “totally disagrees” with the election result but conceded that there would be a smooth transfer to a Biden administration.
Quoting Trump, White House adviser Dan Scavino tweeted: “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th.
“I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted.
“While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”
This morning First Minister Nicola Sturgeon condemned the violence, saying we witnessed Trump “inciting insurrection” in the United States.

She told Good Morning Britain: "In some senses Donald Trump’s presidency has been moving towards this moment almost since the moment it started. But that doesn’t make it any less shocking.
"What we witnessed weren’t just scenes of horrible breaches of law and order, of people taking over the seat of democracy, we actually witnessed the president of the Untied States inciting insurrection in his own country.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
