THE Equality and Human Rights Commission has exposed the actions of Pontins. They have been using a “black list” of Irish surnames in order to stop Gypsies and Travellers from booking holidays at their resorts.
This behaviour was not only morally repugnant, but it was illegal as well. Pontins have been rightly condemned. The Tory Westminster government even said it was wrong. However, as always the Tories will tolerate this type of behaviour from their own members.
Tory regional branch manager Douglas Ross said in 2017 that he wanted to see “tougher actions” taken against Travellers and Gypsies. This targeting of a marginalised minority should have finished him off. However, as bigotry is in the DNA of the Tory party, Ross not only suffered no detriment but was put in charge of the “Scottish” Tories.

Ross is the Tory version of Jim Murphy, yet he is being promoted by the Unionist Media as some sort of Boy Wonder. All of his prognostications are represented fawningly and uncritically.
His latest ploy is to call for Nicola Sturgeon to resign for allegedly misleading the Scottish Parliament. Yet he ignores the industrial-scale lying going on by the Westminster Tories. These include a Home Secretary who has been found to be a bully, a Health Secretary found to have acted illegally in procuring PPE contacts, and a Prime Minister who lies almost every day.
The Tories are bottom-feeding opportunists. They want to hold on to all the ill-gotten gains for the fat cats they have looted from the taxpayer over the last 11 years.

DEPRESSING to see such blatant blacklisting tactics and such a timid means of holding the company to account for its discriminatory policies. Beggars belief, frankly.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
