The National:

MURDO Fraser must be going selectively blind.

For example, the Tory MSP has pinned a post to the top of his Twitter profile claiming there is “#NoMandate” for indyref2 based on the constituency votes of the Holyrood elections.

However, the list votes he was elected on (but is deliberately missing out) show a majority for Yes parties, as does the overall vote tally.

He also seems unable to see what Rangers fans were doing this weekend, but has kept a keen eye on protesters.

While Rangers fans were apparently attacking people, trashing city streets, and engaging in violence against police officers, Fraser was tweeting congratulations to the club.

However, when pro-Palestine protesters in London did similar, he stepped up to condemn them.

Fraser released a statement that does not mention Rangers but seems designed to appease people calling for him to condemn the fans.

In a tweet that led the SNP’s Mhairi Hunter to brand him a “coward”, the Tory MSP wrote: “ALL disorder and violence against the police should be condemned, wherever it occurs - in Glasgow, London, or elsewhere - and whatever the ‘reasons’. End of.”

There you have it folks.

The Stonewall riots which sparked the LGBT pride movement and now have worldwide human rights organisations named after them should be condemned.

Martin Luther King was arrested 29 times for protesting for civil rights, freedom and equality for African Americans. That should be condemned.

The hundreds arrested in Hong Kong in 2020 for protesting a national security law imposed by Beijing? I suppose we should condemn them too.

That’s if we listen to Murdo Fraser, which we suspect is not something many people do.

In fact, it seems not even Murdo Fraser has been paying attention to Murdo Fraser.

Far from condemning all that disorder in Hong Kong on the part of the protesters, Fraser was urging Nicola Sturgeon to speak out on their behalf.

“Why are the SNP so reticent on this issue?”, he asked in one tweet.

Perhaps because: “ALL disorder and violence against the police should be condemned, wherever it occurs - in Glasgow, London, or elsewhere - and whatever the ‘reasons’. End of.”

Or could it be that Murdo Fraser doesn’t actually agree with his own sweeping statement?

And we're not the only ones to have noticed Fraser's bizarre proclamation. Here's a few of the best responses:
