GB News is turning out to be exactly as we all predicted: terrible.

What less of us perhaps saw coming was the reasons for that.

We all knew it was going to churn out right-wing nonsense.

What we may not have anticipated was having it explain why convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was not a paedophile, actually.

We all knew it was going to be amateurish.

What we didn’t expect was periods of literal nothing being broadcast as we hear background squabbling between staff.

We all knew its avid political reporters would take what they were told at face value with no real research.

What we didn’t expect was them to read out time-worn joke names like Mike Hunt or Mike Oxlong with a straight face.

And we all knew its presenters were going to get angry. Red-faced Andrew Neil screaming at politicians is something of a trademark.

What we didn’t expect was the presenters to get angry at their own viewers.

But that’s just what former BBC and Sky man Simon McCoy has done.

The now GB News presenter, alongside co-host Alex Phillips, had some stern words for those watching who dared to send in joke names.

“Some people think it’s really funny to send in texts and messages on the basis that if we read them out we’ve been 'had'.

“You’re still doing it and I’m watching them and it doesn’t help anybody," he claimed.

“We’re just not going to read surnames from now on,” Phillips interjects.

McCoy clearly doesn’t agree with that, so he moves swiftly on to tell viewers to “grow up”.

Perhaps these two aren’t the natural double act the channel’s press has tried to make us believe.

It would seem the rest of the production team is not quite in tune with Phillips either, as they awkwardly run some kind of closing jingle while she is mid-sentence.

The entire segment is a car-crash really which has to be seen to be appreciated.

And many on Twitter certainly did appreciate it.

Side note: We're not sure if it's right that GB News presenters were made to read a text from someone called "Hugh Janus".

What we are sure of though is that Nigel Farage was once tricked into wishing someone with that name a happy birthday...
