TWO artists “inspired by nature” will help drive creativity in the Borders after securing residencies at a historic estate.

Textile specialist Laura Derby and artist Helen Flockhart, who uses oils, will join six other artists and creators already at Marchmont House near the village of Greenlaw after securing a fully funded residency.

The estate’s stables were converted to studios, and a former garage is now a workshop space, following renovations beginning in 2011.

Derby and Flockhart’s residencies come as a result of a partnership between Scotland’s national provider of studios, Wasps, and Marchmont Estates, which aims to be a hub for the arts in the Borders.
