DESPITE the recent fire at The Scottish Crannog Centre, the team are preparing for a busy summer ahead, including live performances and family events.

Rachel Backshall, event co-ordinator at the Crannog Centre said: “We are thrilled to be hosting such a fantastic theatre company. After the devastating loss of the Crannog, we are very grateful for the support of the community and for all the kindness we have received. We are determined to continue delivering the magic, and bringing great events to the local area.”

On July 10, the Crannog will be host the touring theatre company The Three Inch Fools, performing Romeo and Juliet on an outdoor stage in the beautiful setting of Loch Tay. The world’s best-known love story gets the Three Inch Fools treatment, with fast-paced drama, live music and many quick costume changes. Audiences can expect a carnival of passion and imagination, befitting an outdoor setting and an atmosphere of summer festivity.

Three Inch Fools co-founder and producer James Hyde said: “After a challenging 12 months, and a brief post-lockdown tour last summer, we knew we had to get back on the road and re-ignite theatre in the open air. This year we wanted to re-open our summer of theatre with a bang – we have two lively Shakespeare plays full of fun and farce, plus our very first non-Shakespearean production, a calamitous re-imagining of legendary folktale Robin Hood, and new sustainability goals to make sure that our work is fit for the future.”

The Scottish Crannog Centre has set up a JustGiving page to fundraise for developing the centre after the fire which you can donate to at www.justgiving.com/campaign/crannog
