THE National’s Roadshow is returning with an online event tomorrow – and we want to hear your questions for our guests!
Our editor Callum Baird will be hosting columnists David Pratt, Kevin McKenna and Lesley Riddoch for the event, kicking off at 7.30pm sharp.
You’ll be able to tune in to the livestream on our Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and on our website.
We’ll be discussing the topic of “What now for independence?” – looking at where we’re at with the quest for independence just now, and examining what next steps should be taken to secure our freedom from this toxic Union.
While there will be audience interaction on the night, we’re keen to get in some questions in advance from our readers.
So, if you have a question on the state of affairs on independence for David, Kevin and Lesley, please let us know and we’ll do our best to ask it to them.
You can submit questions by emailing letters@thenational.scot with subject “roadshow” or by emailing stewart.ward@thenational.scot
If you’re unable to make the big night, a recording of the event will be available on our YouTube afterwards.
We’ll also have some key highlights on our fast-growing and popular
@scotnational TikTok account – perhaps one to recommend to some of the younger independentistas in your life, too.
Our editor Callum said: “As Scotland’s pro-independence newspaper, this debate obviously takes on the topic at the top of our agenda.
“David, Kevin and Lesley will all have fantastic contributions to make on this subject so it should be a stimulating night.
“Even though we can’t wait to return to in-person roadshows, we hope this being streamed online means lots of Yessers can come along to listen and contribute.
“While I’ve got some questions for our guests myself, we want to make sure our readers are heard – so come up with your best and make sure you get them in!”
You’ll be able to find out all the information you need on what events we have upcoming in this paper – and with a regular slot at the top-right of our first Letters spread (see page 23).
We look forward to (virtually) seeing some of you tomorrow evening – let’s keep the momentum up.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
