THE UK Government’s proposed Afghan Citizens' Resettlement Scheme does not go “far or fast enough” to protect vulnerable Afghan citizens, according to the SNP.
Ian Blackford, the party’s Westminster leader called for the minimum target to welcome at least 35,000 Afghan refugees to the UK, in line with numbers allowed under the Syrian resettlement scheme.
Ahead of today’s Commons debate on the issue, the SNP’s Foreign Affairs spokesperson Alyn Smith told BBC Breakfast he’d be calling for more compassion over the plight of the refugees, which was caused by the UK Government in the first place:
