AN English lady has gone viral after announcing her plan to move to Scotland and help in the push for independence.

Sarah Pegg, 72, posted on Twitter in the middle of August to make the announcement, saying that she will “finally” be moving north of the Border in early September.

“Don't (yet) know a soul there. Am I nervous? No way.

“Can't wait to start the latest adventure in my life and say goodbye to England,” she wrote, adding: “Roll on Scottish independence!”

The post has since received more than 12,000 likes and over 1000 shares.

It has also been commented on more than 1300 times, the vast majority of which are Yessers extending a welcome greeting to the soon-to-be New Scot.

Sarah said she’ll be moving, with her cat Ollie, from her home in East Sussex to Leith.

She told The National: "If you hear about people rushing screaming off a King's Cross to Waverley train on [September] the 7th, you'll know that my cat isn't enjoying the journey.

"He has the most irritating miaow imaginable!!!"

“What a wonderful adventure, Sarah,” one Morag wrote. “I love Leith. My eldest used to live there . You will enjoy coming home in Scotland. Best of luck.”

Bill Cruikshank added: “I am sure you and your cat will be made very welcome, Sarah.

“You are moving to a beautiful city, full of history and you will get to vote on Scotland becoming an independent nation. Truly historic. I wish you all the best in your new life.”

Another user added: “Congratulations and welcome! I made my escape (with cats) from England back in 2013. Settled very happily here in Fife and never regretted the move for a single moment. As you say, roll on Scottish independence!”

An Angi Maxwell shared "the famous Scottish Citizenship test”, writing: “We live just up the road in Inverleith. When you get here, I'm sure your neighbours will make you feel welcome, but also check out YENL (Yes Edinburgh North and Leith) and Pensioners for Indy on FB... Ceud mìle fàilte!”

Anne Mackenzie wrote: “Big hello Sarah, from Leith! Looking forward to welcoming you soon.

“If you’re on Facebook, join the I Love Leith page, it’s a good way to find out lots of insider info. Sometimes the banter is a bit brutal but always well meaning. Safe travels.”
