A WALLABY has been spotted at a pub after escaping from an Aberdeenshire zoo just hours after arriving.
Six-month-old Eddie arrived at Wallkill Menagerie near New Deer on Sunday night.
He was joined by a giant tortoise and three meerkats.
But he soon escaped through a small fence hole as the animals were being transferred on Monday.
Nikki Johnstone, who runs the zoo, told STV News the animal was spotted a number of times in recent days - including at a local pub.
She said: “He was spotted not too long after escaping about a mile away from the attraction. He was then seen outside a pub in New Deer and the last sighting had him heading toward Cuminestown and Turriff.

“I cannot believe all the responses, the reaction on social media has been phenomenal with people sending in their suggestions.
“Finding him is one thing but catching him is another thing entirely, unless we find him in a confined area we have no chance.
“We can’t go wandering through the fields looking for him so hopefully he turns up in somebody’s garden shed or something.
“I’m totally gutted and really worried for him. he will be cold and scared. He’s not aggressive, he’s only about 10 inches off the ground so people don’t have to be worried."
Surprisingly, Eddie isn't the only wallaby to have escaped from a zoo in Scotland in the last year.
Go Radio presenter Gary Muircroft found himself late for work in July after helping to catch the macropod.
He snapped pics of the animal as it hopped around the streets of Carluke, having escaped from the Clyde Valley Family Park.

At the time he tweeted: "He tweeted: "Late for the Go Radio breakfast show with @gradowrestling this morning trying to rescue this wee guy…… #TheCarlukeWallaby! Hope the guy at @policescotland managed to get someone out there!"
Wallabies are said to be harmless but are quite elusive creatures, usually the size of a small dog.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
