POLICE are appealing for information after a young man was attacked and killed “for absolutely no reason”.
The 23-year-old was walking along St Margaret’s Avenue in Dalry when he was assaulted at around 9.05pm on Sunday night.
Paramedics attended but the man died at the scene.
Officers say the suspect is white and was wearing a dark jacket.
Detective Inspector Stephen McCulloch of Saltcoats CID, said: “This young man would appear to have been attacked and killed for absolutely no reason other than being in the same place as the man at the same time.
“There were a number of people in the street who came to the man’s aid and called for an ambulance and we believe we have managed to speak to most of them, however, we would still appeal to anyone who was there but who has not yet come forward to police to get in touch.
“I’d also ask for motorists who may have dash-cams to check their footage from the street around the area, maybe between 8.50 pm and 9.10 pm, and to call police as well.”
Information can be passed to officers at Saltcoats Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 3404 of Sunday, 10 October, 2021. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
