THE mayor of Los Angeles has tested positive for Covid-19 just a day after having a face-to-face meeting with Nicola Sturgeon in Glasgow.
The First Minister met with Eric Garcetti for a "brief meeting" on Tuesday at the historic COP26 climate summit.
Currently, Sturgeon has not been identified as a close contact and is expected to perform her duties as normal.
A spokesperson for the First Minister said she is taking regular Covid-19 tests and is following all applicable protocols.

Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken also met Garcetti during his trip.
A spokesperson for the local authority leader said: “Councillor Aitken was delighted to welcome Mayor Garcetti to Glasgow on Monday and wishes him a speedy recovery.
“She has not been identified as a close contact but, out of an abundance of caution, has booked a PCR test and will isolate at home until she receives a result.”
Garcetti was also pictured with London Mayor Sadiq Kham at Euston Station before boarding a train to Glasgow on Monday.
A COP26 spokesperson said: "Everyone's safety and security at COP26 is of the utmost importance - we have worked closely with public health authorities to put rigorous Covid mitigation measures in place.
"Delegates are required to take daily lateral flow tests before gaining entrance to the venue.
"Anyone who develops symptoms, or receives a positive test, must self-isolate immediately and we have systems in place to support this."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
