THE Yes DIY page is looking for information as to what Yes groupsacross the country are planning for St Andrews Day and the festive season.
If your group has a celebration planned for November 30 or thereabouts, please let us know by contacting community@thenational.scot and we’ll do our best to give it publicity.
Meanwhile here’s an example of an excellent Christmas initiative by Yes2indee – we recently told the Yes movement about their project to give Scottish children in need a selection box for Christmas and we’re delighted to report the appeal is up and running.
They told us: “Yes2 for the last few weeks have had an ongoing raffle to help raise funds for our selection box appeal for bairns this Christmas.
“We have planned a games night in The Drover Bar, 447 Gallowgate, Glasgow. G40 2DX. which will be on the evening of November 26 from 6pm till late.
“As well as the games being played, there will be entertainment afterwards.
“We believe that while families struggle all year round, more especially at Christmas no bairn should go without a wee bit o’ chocolate, hence our selection box appeal.
“It’s not too late to get involved in the raffle, and we have lots of fantastic prizes available.
“From Scottish jewellery to Indy T-shirts and goodies, to Pete Scally’s stage leather jacket or Amanda Brown’s kilt.
Contact the Yes2 page on Facebook @yes2indee.com – we know everyone’s struggling so if you can’t help please share our events.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
