SCOTLAND has recorded a further 7162 cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
The testing figures now includes cases identified with a lateral flow test. Previously, only PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests done at labs were included.
A total of 4106 of the positive tests reported on January 21 were only from lateral flow devices.
Elsewhere, the latest government data shows 16 further deaths of Covid-19 patients have been recorded.
This brings the total under this measure - of people who died within 28 days of testing positive - to 10,165.
Across Scotland yesterday there were 1511 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19. There were 43 pople in intensive care with the disease.
In terms of the vaccination effort, 4,404,268 people in Scotland have received their first jag, while 4,099,222 people have also received their second dose. A total of 3,238,127 have received a third dose or booster.
