POLICE have a picture of Boris Johnson holding a can of beer at the Prime Minister's own lockdown birthday party.

The Mirror is reporting that Johnson is pictured alongside Chancellor Rishi Sunak, who is holding a soft drink, during his June 2020 gathering in Number 10's Cabinet Room.

Sources told the newspaper the Prime Minister was snapped holding a can of Estrella towards the camera in a toast.

The picture is thought to be taken by Johnson's official, taxpayer-funded photographer who documented the event.

It means the picture is likely to be among the 300 photographs handed over to the Metropolitan Police for evidence amid their investigation into Downing Street parties during the lockdown.

Sources say the picture shows the two senior politicians surrounded by Number 10 aides in the Cabinet Room.

Interior designer Lulu Lytle, who led the infamous No 11 renovation, is alleged to have been at the party where Johnson had 30 staff sing happy birthday before tucking into M&S picnic food.

Rishi Sunak is thought to have turned up for a Covid meeting having not been invited to the party.

The gatherings are likely to have broken Covid rules set by the PM at the time.

It follows from the Sue Gray report which scolded Number 10 for a lack of leadership. However, the report was limited due to the Met's criminal investigation which was announced after weeks of outrage about a lack of action by the force.

Other photos handed to police are likely to include footage from security cameras which may show who entered and left the buildings.

While Downing Street has admitted the party happened, it claims Johnson was only there for around 10 minutes.

The revelation will only add to the Prime Minister's troubles as he has seen five aides quit in the space of a couple of days.

On top of that, he is facing calls to resign by more than a dozen on his own MPs, with more expected to call for his removal over the weekend.

Johnson faces pressure over his future amid a partygate scandal which continues to grow and a row over an untrue Jimmy Savile accusation made against Keir Starmer.
