A TORY health minister has apologised after continuing an in-person meeting with bereaved parents despite knowing she had tested positive for Covid-19.

Gillian Keegan announced on Twitter that she was "listening to three fathers who had tragically lost their daughters to suicide" when she was notified of a positive lateral flow result.

She said she took “further precautions” after being informed, but continued with the event "for a short period to hear their stories" with the fathers’ consent. It is unclear what precautions the UK health minister took.

She announced on social media: "I should I should have immediately ended the meeting and on reflection this was an error of judgment on my part.

"I fully recognise the importance of following the letter and spirit of the policies, so want to be upfront about what happened and to apologise for the mistake I made."

The UK Government’s own rules for England state people must isolate immediately when they record a positive lateral flow result.

Keegan says she is now isolating at home and feels "fine".

People with Covid in England can leave isolation after five full days, as long as they test negative on day five and day six.
