SCOTLAND has recorded 21 coronavirus-linked deaths and 7497 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures.
It means the number of people who have died, within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, has risen to 10,768.
From Tuesday, the national case definition has been updated to include reinfections, the Scottish Government said.
This means the headline number of Covid cases and deaths now includes cases based on an individual’s first positive test as well as possible reinfections, where an individual tests positive 90 days or more after their last positive test.
There were 1191 people in hospital on Monday with recently confirmed Covid-19, up from 1175 on Sunday.
Of these, there were 18 people in intensive care, down from 19.
So far, 4,436,511 people have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination, 4,157,929 have received their second dose, and 3,434,063 have received a third dose or booster.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
