The DEC receives contributions from 15 different leading aid charities from across Scotland and the UK, with funds being used to go towards humanitarian aid, such as hygiene supplies, blankets, and food.

The United Nation’s Refugee Agency (UNHCR) said on Sunday that 1.37 million people have fled the country into neighbouring countries since Russia launched its invasion on February 24.

The figure is now believed to have risen to more than 1.5 million.

The UNHCR estimate four million people could end up seeking sanctuary in other countries as the conflict escalates.
