BORIS Johnson laughed and pulled faces as Rishi Sunak spoke of the horrors facing Ukrainians in the wake of the Russian invasion.

Sunak, who was giving his Spring Statement on the state of the UK economy, had risen to begin his statement.

He opened: “As I stand here, men, women and children are huddled in basements across Ukraine seeking protection.

“Soldiers and citizens alike have taken up arms to defend their land and families.”

Behind the Chancellor, the Prime Minister could be seen making faces and laughing.

A clip of the incident has sparked outrage on social media after it was shared by Byline Times journalist Adam Bienkov.

Political commentator Fuad Alakbarov wrote: "I've said this before: Boris Johnson is a disgrace to this country and needs to resign."

Other users branded Johnson a "disgrace" and an "embarrassment".

It comes just days after the Prime Minister was snubbed by European leaders in the wake of comments he made linking the Ukrainians' fight for freedom against Vladimir Putin to voting for Brexit.

Downing Street has been approached for comment.
