BBC's Great British Menu is nearly at the end with a team of passionate chefs battling it out to serve up their food at a banquet.

The theme this year is '100 Years of Great British Broadcasting' after the first-ever BBC Radio broadcast in 1922.

The banquet this year will be at Alexandra Palace in London and attended by special guests from TV and radio. 

This year, a chef from Dundee has made finals week and is hoping to win over the judges. 

This week's judges will feature Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge, chef and restaurateur Nisha Katona, and comedian and host of food podcast Off Menu, Ed Gamble.

Andi Oliver will present the show and actor, writer and comedian Steve Pemberton will join the judging panel in tonight's show.

Meet the chef from Dundee on Great British Menu

Adam Handling

Where from? Dundee, Scotland

Where is the restaurant? Frog by Adam Handling, Covent Garden

Sustainability is at the heart of Adam's approach with an emphasis on minimising food waste.

He started The Adam Handling Restaurant Group in 2016 and opened The Loch and the Tyne in Old Windsor, before opening up Ugly Butterfly on the Cornish coast in St Ives.

Adam has won Scottish Chef of the Year and was voted Restaurateur of the Year at the British GQ Food and Drink Awards 2020.

Olivia Barry

Where from? Bristol

Where is the restaurant? Adelina Yard, Bristol

Olivia's Italian heritage and family memories heavily influence her cooking. 

Olivia opened Adelina Yard in 2015 with her husband Jamie Randall and has earned two Rosettes, a Michelin plate and been named in the Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants. 

Spencer Metzger

Age: 28

Where from? Chigwell, Essex

Where is the restaurant? The Ritz London 

Spencer first joined The Ritz aged just 15 for work experience.

He has also worked there as an apprentice and has done stints at L'Enclume in Cumbria and Frantzén in Stockholm.

He has won the Roux Scholarship in 2019 and was awarded The Caterer's Acorn Award. 

Sam Lomas

Where from? Macclesfield 

Where is the restaurant? Glebe House, Devon

Sam is the head chef at Glebe House after winning a competition as an apprentice at River Cottage with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall aged 18.

He likes to use seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients, using local suppliers and livestock raised on site. 

Chris McClurg

Where from? County Down, Northern Ireland

Where is the restaurant? Paul Ainsworth at No. 6, Padstow

Chris has previously appeared on GBM, with three out of four of his dishes coming second to the winners in finals week. 

He has worked with chef Paul Ainsworth for more than 10 years and is now chef de cuisine at No. 6. 

No. 6. Has a Michelin star and 4 AA rosettes and Chris was named the Observer Food Monthly’s Chef of the Year in 2018.

Luke French

Where from? Cambridge

Where is the restaurant? Jöro, Sheffield

After moving to Sheffield 11 years ago and starting as a kitchen porter at the age of 14, Luke has worked his way up to work in the kitchens of Alimentum and The Fat Duck before relocating to Steel City.

Luke opened Jöro with his wife Stacey Sherwood, serving food with a Nordic/Japanese influence. 

He has earned a Michelin plate, three AA Rosettes and places 32nd in the National Restaurant Awards. 

He has also opened Konjö in Sheffield and Nama in Liverpool.

Sally Abe

Where from? Mansfield, Nottingham

Where is the restaurant? The Pem, London 

Sally is the chef consultant at The Pem Restaurant in the Conrad London Hotel in St. James’s.

She has experience working at The Savoy and Claridges before she began working under Brett Graham at two-Michelin-starred The Ledbury. 

She became head chef at The Hardwood Arms in Fulham where she maintained its Michelin star status before opening The Pem in July 2021. 

Sally was also named SquareMeal’s Female Chef of the Year in 2021.

Nathan Davies

Where from? Wolverhampton

Where is the restaurant? SY23, Aberystwyth 

Nathan has a varied career from working for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre to being a private chef in France.

He was Gareth Ward's head chef at Ynyshir for four years before opening SY23 in 2019. 

Nathan makes his own pine oil and uses locally foraged or sourced ingredients cooked over a fire. 

 

When is Great British Menu on TV?

This week Great British Menu will be on every weekday on BBC Two.

The contestants will cook a different dish each day in the hope of winning a chance to cook at the banquet.
