ITV Racing: Grand National Festival (STV, 2pm)

WHILE the Cheltenham Festival may be regarded by aficionados as the pinnacle of jumps racing, the Grand National at Aintree is seen as the people’s race.

More than 600 million people worldwide are expected to tune in to watch the 40 horses and their jockeys tackle the 30 fences along the famous four-mile-and-514-yards course this afternoon.

Much of the focus will be on Rachael Blackmore, who became the first female jockey to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup on A Plus Tard last month.

The 32-year-old Irish national hunt jockey is looking to rewrite the record books yet again by winning the Grand National for a second time in 12 months on Minella Times.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be analysis from National-winning jockeys AP McCoy, Ruby Walsh and Mick Fitzgerald.

A Lake District Farm Shop (C4, 8.15pm)

WE meet Love Ewe Dairy founder James Hadwin, a generational farmer based in Kirkby Lonsdale. He is hoping his new innovative sheep’s milk brie will earn a place in the service station’s cheese counter.

Meanwhile, Tracey, the service station’s head of lifestyle, travels to Winster Valley to meet Jonty Hampson, who makes timber craft products. Plus, new supplier Lakes Brew reveal the process of creating local craft brews for Tebay.

The 1% Club (ITV, 8.30pm)

THIS new game show, hosted by quick-witted comedian Lee Mack, sees 100 contestants narrowed down to just one. They will be asked a series of questions starting from one that 99% of Brits would get right, down to just 1%.

Each contestant will start with £1000 and one free pass but if they answer incorrectly they are out and their grand goes into the prize pot. This means the winner stands to take home £100,000.

Killing Eve (BBC One, 9.15pm)

The National:

THE best scenes in this drama are usually when Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) come face to face, and you could cut the atmosphere with a knife.

Tonight, before they head off on their respective missions, the pair meet for what could be one final, chaotic, time, in Berlin. Then, while Villanelle is led to another assassin in the Twelve, Eve moves closer to achieving revenge. Plus, Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) is forced to face a ghost from her past as she continues to investigate her son Kenny’s murder.

Rock Family Trees: The Birth of Cool Britannia (BBC2, 10.15pm)

BRITPOP emerged in the 1990s alongside the “Cool Britannia” movement with a style hearkening back to the guitar-driven songs and melodic hooks found in British pop rock of the 1960s.

Sara Cox takes a trip down memory lane to tell the story behind the birth of Britpop and how a handful of like-minded musicians paved the way for a music revolution. She explores the intricately connected lineage of Suede, Elastica and Blur, and the programme features interviews with the likes of Brett Anderson, Justine Frischmann, Mat Osman and Justin Welch, as well as charting the friendships and fall-outs.
