THE Scottish Tories have been forced to admonish one of their own candidates after they repeatedly called for politicians to be publicly hanged.
Tariq Parvez, a Conservative candidate for Glasgow’s Southside Central ward, said that lawmakers in Pakistan should be executed, and insulted the former wife of the country’s ousted prime minister Imran Khan.

The Tory hopefully attacked Reham Khan, who had criticised the health record of the party her ex-husband founded.
He wrote: “You are disgrace to women. Language used in your book edited by your son is disgusting. You should apply for a job in Playboy magazine.”
Elsewhere, he called for public figures in Pakistan to be executed, writing: “Niwaz, Zardari, Disel & Wali Khan son must be hanged in public.”
He wrote years later: “Corrup [sic] judges should be hanged along with corrupt politicians. Not General Parvez Musharraf. He is Pakistani hero.”
Parvez will face no further action after he assured the party he would not make such statements in the future.
He said: “I apologise for making such awful remarks. This was a serious mistake and I am very sorry. It will be deleted immediately and I promise it will not happen again.”

A Scottish Conservative spokesperson said: “These comments are completely out of order. We have warned the candidate about making these kind of statements, which are unacceptable.
“He has apologised and given assurances it will not happen again, which we have accepted.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
