AN activist group for Labour members who support the armed forces has called out Tory leadership hopeful Penny Mordaunt for stealing their logo in her campaign.

Despite a number of gaffes, Mordaunt has been polling well with Tory party members and has been tipped as one of the favourites to win the leadership contest.

But controversy continues to plague the current trade minister as Labour Friends of the Forces (LFF) has called out Mordaunt for nicking their logo.

They tweeted Mordaunt, saying: “Can we discuss the use of our logo @PennyMordaunt ??”

Several Twitter users agreed with LFF that the two logos shared an uncanny similarity, with both comprising of the bottom left corner of the Union Jack.

One user wrote: “Cut and Paste Penny Classy!”

While another said: “Blimey not very original copying and using others ...”

This is not the first issue Mordaunt has had with her campaign ads in the course of her leadership bid.

Upon the launch of her first promotional video, the former defence secretary had to hastily edit out several recognisable figures from the clip.

The original video had featured two seconds of footage showing Jonnie Peacock competing at the London 2012 Paralympics.

Peacock replied to her video on Twitter saying: “I officially request to be removed from this video…. Anything but blue please.”

The same video also featured convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius who killed his wife Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.

Mordaunt also had an old clip resurface of her saying the word “cock” repeatedly in the Commons as part of a Royal Navy dare, in what was another embarrassing gaffe for the trade minister.
