JINGLE all the way to our 2022 Christmas offer – treat yourself or a loved one to our subscriber experience this year and receive a free M&S gift card!
Our digital subscription is being offered with our gift to you this Christmas - a free £20 gift card to M&S. This is a thanks for your unwavering support for our publication through this year.
Our free M&S Christmas gift can be found under the “Digital Pack” plan HERE.
Our digital pack provides subscribers complete access to our digital suite – which consists of access to our daily digital edition of the newspaper, as well as our brand-new app from the Apple store and the Google Play store.
If you want to test out if we are the right fit for you before committing for a year, there’s an easy way to test it out.
This Christmas, for just £2, you can compare our fast, thorough coverage to other Scottish titles when there’s a major event in Scottish or UK politics.

With a website only subscription, you gain access to our analysis, in-depth reports, breaking news coverage as well as art, history, and literature pieces from some of the most talented writers in Scotland.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National

Please report any comments that break our rules.
