THE three SNP leadership candidates will hit Scotland’s capital this evening as the hustings events reach their final stages.
Ash Regan, Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes will be bidding to impress members in Edinburgh following two TV debates on STV and Channel 4 plus several other regional hustings events.
From Monday, members will be able to vote for who they think should be Scotland's new first minister.

A poll of party voters on Thursday commissioned by Channel 4 News showed Forbes and Yousaf were neck and neck to win the contest.
When are the hustings?
The hustings will take place on Friday, March 10, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
How can I watch?
Anyone wishing to watch this evening should head over to the SNP’s Facebook, YouTube or Twitter channel where a livestream should be available at the beginning of the event.
What are the big issues?
There have been big talking points since the STV debate on Tuesday, with Forbes questioning Yousaf’s record in government and whether he is a competent politician.
Candidates have been quizzed on a variety of issues this week including their plans for achieving independence and how they propose to build support, how they will tackle poverty and help Scots during the cost of living crisis, how they view the monarchy and whether they feel Scotland should rejoin the EU post-independence.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
