SCOTTISH actor and independence supporter Alan Cumming is due to appear at a major independence event this October.
Due to take place on Saturday October 14, the Chain of Freedom will see independence supporters stand together on various canals to show their support for the Yes movement.
In the video, Cumming says: “What’s going to happen is, people who support independence from all walks of life, from all political parties, let’s leave political partisanship to one side, we’re all going to stand together on the canals, the Union, Forth and Clyde canals in an act of solidarity for independence for Scotland.
“I hope you can join us.”

Cumming has long been a supporter of Scottish independence and has regularly used his platform to promote his views on his home country.
He has appeared in the likes of X-Men, Goldeneye and hit show The Good Wife as well as the US edition of The Traitors.
Cumming has regularly spoken about why he believes Scotland would be better outside the UK and back inside the EU.
He also handed back his OBE due to his “misgivings” with being associated with the “toxicity” of the British Empire.

He backed the Yes campaign in 2014 and previously declared that he would return to Scotland to do the same for indyref2.
Asked on BBC’s The Nine about his support for a second referendum, Cumming previously said: “I think if anything has changed since the last referendum in the political situation it would be to me, that it is more obvious now that Scotland can do better itself and that Westminster does not have Scotland’s interests at heart.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
