A MUCH-LOVED Southside cafe in Glasgow has announced it will close permanently after three years of trading.

Honey & Salt Coffee Bar on Carmunnock Road has been a popular destination in the Mount Florida area of the city since it opened, serving vegetarian and vegan-friendly dishes alongside speciality coffees.

Owners took to Instagram on Thursday night to share the "difficult decision" with their customers.

They wrote: "We regretfully must let you know that we have taken the decision to permanently close Honey & Salt.

"It has been an immensely difficult decision, and we wish there was a better and easier way to say goodbye.

"This has been our first business venture and it’s been a learning curve making a business out of something you love."

They added: "We have learnt so much with Honey & Salt on so many levels and met so many lovely and inspiring people. But now, we are ready to close this chapter.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support these past three years, it has truly meant the world and feels still somewhat unbelievable.

"We have been lucky enough to connect, get to know and work with so many amazing suppliers and producers, and thank you to you all, it’s been an honour."

The owners thanked their "incredible staff, past and present" as well as their "loyal and supportive customers and friends".

The owners wrote: "We are heartbroken to not be a part of your days and routines anymore.

"It’s been a pleasure to serve you and get to know you these past three years; we’ve learnt something from each and every one of you.

"Big changes are on the horizon, and we’re not sure what the future will look like, but thank you once more for this little slice of time here in Mount Florida."

Fans of the coffee shop left an outpouring of messages to the owners on the chat expressing their woe at the news.

One person said: "I miss you all already, this is devastating news. Going to miss the almond bostocks, chai lattes, lovely chat and the intense love for all things broccoli.

"This place was an institution in Mount Florida, our favourite local spot."

Another wrote: "You’ve been an absolute asset to MoFlo and you’ll be very missed! Thanks for everything and all the best to you all."

Melting Pot Glasgow organisers said: "Gutted to see you go. A great little community coffee shop. You'll be missed."
