THE EDINBURGH Food Festival has unveiled its menu for a return to Assembly George Square Gardens for its ninth edition – with a fresh focus on sustainability.
The event which was launched in 2015 will run for 10 days from Friday, July 21 through to Sunday, July 30.
In 2022, the capital’s only free-to-enter food festival boasted an attendance of more than 100,000 people.
It is aiming to cater to vegans as well, with The Caravan of Courage offering an inclusive plant-based menu.
Returning to the event are 2020 British Street Food Winners "The Peruvian" who will make their signature dish Lomo Saltado which includes stir-fried steak strips, red onion and tomatoes.
As well as food, there will be various live events held in the Treehouse Kitchen which include workshops, talks, masterclasses, producer-led tastings and pairings, and children’s activities.
This year, the festival plans to focus on sustainability and will test out a reusable cup scheme with Stack-Cup UK over the course of the 10 days.
There will also be multiple events exploring the themes of ethical eating, plant-based living, zero waste kitchen, technological trends, seasonality and mood impacting foods.
Over the years, the festival has grown significantly and has hosted top industry figures such as Carina Contini, Shirley Spear, Tom Lewis, Guy Grieve and Neil Forbes.
The Producer’s Market will allow visitors to buy things for themselves which include cheeses, baked goods, fresh produce and speciality drinks.
Various countries including Vietnam, Spain, The Netherlands and Scotland itself will be represented through the food on display.
Drinks offerings will be served up from the likes of Bellfield Brewery offering vegan beer and Isle of Mull-based Stranger’s Point Gin with small batch spirits.
It will also be a festival debut for Wholly Waffles who are bringing over Stroopwafel, which is its artisan Dutch caramel Waffles, popular in Amsterdam.
