A YELLOW weather warning is in place for parts of Scotland in anticipation of heavy rain.

Stretching along the east coast and central belt from Edinburgh to Glasgow, the warning is expected to be in place until at least 4pm on Saturday.

It comes as the Junior Road Race is set to get underway at the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow.

Road users are being warned that the rain could cause difficult driving conditions and even instances of flooding in some areas.

Travellers are also being told to be aware that bus and train timetables could be impacted by the weather.
