NICOLA Sturgeon's appearance at the UK Covid Inquiry is today (January 31).
The inquiry is holding a series of hearings in Edinburgh as it probes Scotland’s response to the pandemic.
Sturgeon’s former chief of staff Liz Lloyd gave evidence on Thursday last week, as did First Minister Humza Yousaf, while Alister Jack will appear tomorrow.

What time is Nicola Sturgeon set to appear?
Nicola Sturgeon's appearance is scheduled from 10:00am until 4:30pm. There will be breaks throughout the hearing, called at the chair's discretion.
What is the inquiry?
According to the website, the inquiry “has been set up to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and learn lessons from the future”.
It first started on June 28 2022 and has heard from a number of witnesses, experts and core participants through a series of hearings.
Although she hasn’t formally appeared yet, Sturgeon previously hit back at comments made by former UK health secretary Matt Hancock (above) when he was giving evidence.
He claimed that Sturgeon had “confused” the public during the pandemic although a spokesperson for Sturgeon said there “is not a scrap of evidence” to support the claims.
The spokesperson said: “He should be taking responsibility for his own decisions – as Nicola will do when she gives evidence to the inquiry early next year – rather than seeking to blame others”.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
